Archives for May 2010
When we arrived at the farm it was sooooooooooo cooooooL. Juan grew up on like 60 acres and there are horses and stuff. So cool! His mom and dad rule and took us in and let us camp out on their land. ANd soooooo cooL of land it is! We were all mega stoked. Not a skatepark for miles and miles but we had our fill for the day and it was time to chill and just enjoy!
The pics speak for themselves. Just plain friggin’ beautiful!
Juan’s dad has an additional 40 some -odd acres of hunting land down the road a piece. He has a killer tree house/hunting stand.. Wow!
Juan’s dad is a bonified Grillmaster. THis dude is no joke! We each had the biggest steak you could ever imagine. He was feeding us steak and calamari and veggies right off the grill and then we went in for a big big big dinner!! Oh my stomach.
After the biggest meal of my life, we chilled by the fire and listened to the wolves, coyotes, bears, horses and dog boy out in the field.
I woke up with this critter in my tent.
After the biggest breakfast ever we hit the road for Madison. We got a last minute invite to the killer Dust Bowl and had a great sesh there on the way back. Thanks to my brothers in Madison for their hospitality too!!!
Such a goood weeeek end. I got home at like 11 and Mukluk was still alive. so all is good!
Lake Delton was sooooo fun. Madison dudes Derrick, a dude named Booyah, and other Madison dudes showed that afternoon. It is sessions like that where everyone comes together from other parts of the country and it is just so on.
So at Juan’s aunt and uncle’s there was lots of wooded property, a river, a trail, three wheelers and bear stories!! It got really cold but a few of us braved it out and tent citied it. Others were smart and stayed in the house. But I was just really needing to sleep in my tent. it hat been too many months since I smelled the musty mold of my tent!
We had killer breakfast the next morning and headed out to the Weston park. OMG I so love this skatepark!! I reviewed it last year on the old blog. So I won’t get all tech on the details. All I have to say is that this one is challenging to figure out. There are at least 6 hips on each wall of the bowl and the walls are flat… So if you get the idea – speed bumps and pump hips on flat wall. Oh, so fun!! I love the metal coping with welded ribs the most. Spencer should have a good photo of me grinding that on his blog. If he doesn’t post it, he hates me and I lied…
We got a good 2-3 hours in the morning/early afternoon and decided to get some lunch. The kid factor had elevated slightly and I had been snaked or rolled in on 5 times in about 12 minutes so I had to take a time out anyway. I am trying hard not to yell at kids anymore. They don’t know any better. It is the parent’s fault for not teaching them proper etiquite and so I need to just yell at them. ha
Brian was taming the coping on the square flow, MC was shredding and ripping as always. It was actually hot there.
Spencer got some props on the skate care. www.srcbypass.com – get some buttons!
When we returned it was crazy talk. The place was packed with kids. There was 50/50 bikers and skateboarders. So we sat on the bleachers and were like, shit what to do now? Then we noticed that there were about 4 or 5 kids that straight up rip this park. I could not believe how good these kids are here? They all sucked last year but now it is just shred city at Weston. I can honestly say that these farm kids put the Chicago kids to complete shame. there were 10 year olds doing tail slides on the 11 foot Burnside bank and every David Gonzolas trick on the mini section.. I mean frontside tuck knee transfers over the spine, lean 360’s over the hip and back lip transfers from transition hip to Burnside bank. Just rediculous shit.
In the words of Spencer we were all like ISH. Mull was like, Fuck this, I’m drinkin’ MC gradually went out and then Spencer and a few others including myself. But it was so packed that I really did not need a bike kid rolling in on me while sucking wind in the big bowl and just overall sucking at skateboarding…
We skated for about an hour and Juan showed up with his dad and we were to follow him up to the Juan and Juan farm!!
I think we were all stoked to have an excuse to go. I love that park but it gets really crowded. I really need to get up there in the next 2 weeks during the week before school lets out. Then I can put in some quality time and really get some things going in there.
It’s been a bit since I last posted. I have been super busy with school and life. I hope to keep things going on a regular basis again as this is the last week of Spring semester!! Only two finals to go and I am on the freedom bus for three months!!!!!!
So a bunch of us got together and headed up north to the WI for some radicalness last weekend. The crew was Juan, Danny, Brian LJ, Brian Mull, Mark P, Spencer, MC and Me. We hit up Lake Delton on Friday. It is a bit of a trip and with much complaining, farting and eating – MC, SPenCerish and I got there just after the Danny car.
I had to check in with my favorite gas station in town. They sell guitars there! But the price is stupid. $200 for an old parlor that is completely screwed. The guy wouldn’t come down on the price. And then I noticed he had 6 more under the counter! ugh
Mull got right to the shred
The session on Friday was sooooooo fun! We just skated for like 4 hours non-stop. OMG, WTF, BFF I had so much funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! That first day.
Spencer was Mr. PhoToG on this trip and took many many pics of cool things happening everywhere. You can check his rad stuff at this Blog.
It was not stop madness and then it got late. We headed on up towards Weston for the night. Juan has relatives all over the WI and luckily we were able to camp on their property all weekend!!!! His aunt and uncle hooked us up with a bonfire and snacks that night and an amazing breakfast the next morning! OMG such amazing family. It is really nice to know there are people out there who are so nice!!
