So I went back to my secret camp site on Big Mountain. Well not so secret anymore. Over the last few years Whitefish has become a little Aspen. So the wealthy Californians are building million dollar cabins all over the mountain now… Even with the housing crisis… ugh.ugh ugh. I was kinda worried it was gonna be a bust because there was a gated resort entrance on the ridge above mine… But I was all good.
This is the million dollar view of Whitefish lake
I had planned to record an ep up here. But I was worried I was going to wake the neighbors up. Just couldn’t get my shit together enough to blast my voice. So I just wrote some riffs instead and played until the sun went completely down.
The solo stuff is good and bad. I would go do more, like rent a boat or fish or whatever… But I get the itch to move on and keep moving when I am solo. i don’t like to be in one place for too long. But this place I could stay forever.
There are Magpies that perch in the pines and you can hear them singing at sunset, it is an amazing multi octave voice that then echos up and down the mountain. Sooooo beautiful. I tried to record it actually too. I was hoping if I would sing, they would sing too. But they stopped and I was worried I was going to wake up the whole mountain too…. damn – you just have to do it.. You only get one chance at this stuff…
I woke up at 5 again but tried to sleep in. Got packed up by 6:30-7 and headed down the mountain into town. I decided to splurge and get breakfast instead of pop-tarts… This bowling alley serves some seriously good cheap eats. There are some nice yuppie places in town if you want to spend 20 bucks. But this place does it good!
I am in full dirt bag mode now. Smelly, Stinky, dirty, no shave. Yes!!
I had the special, soooo good!!
I went back to the park and skated for 3-4 hours. Oh I got my fill!
Bob decided to rip it up too. There were two kids there that were rad. Locals, and had lots of good stories about thier grandfather who is a retired rancher, mountain man and all that… man I would love to hang with that guy for a day!
Insert Lou’s Atomic Ranch here.
I got rained out at noonish so I held up in a coffee shop with WIFI – did some grading and this blogging stuff. On to Polson!!
